Rufus Du Sol Chicago Concert reviews
Sound system and volume the best in CA!
Shorelines sound system is sonically great, possibly the best sound system overall in CA for Rufus music and outside venues. The big difference between a mediocre show and a great show is mainly because of the main volume (Front house engineers), # of sub’s (bass) and type of sound system. The bottom line is Shorelines sound system was loud without it clipping or sounding too overbearing. Hollywood Bowls sound levels were disappointing. Over all volume was too low for that type of venue and the sound doesn’t acoustically travel well in that venue. Whoever is Rufus’s tour engineer or maybe house engineer didn’t want to push the volume at the Bowl or max level volume was reached. Shoreline sound 10/10 and venue 5 stars
Hollywood Bowl 5/10 2 stars
Never again…
After being forced to pay $10 to park my car in the only place this venue has for parking I arrived at the show having purchased 2 seat tickets. I was wearing a bomber jacket and a hoody and blue jeans. The temperature was dropping from when I left my house and sitting around 45° but I thought for sure they would have heating stations as I’ve seen all other lower cost outdoor events in STL that week. I did have a spare hoody in the car which I thought I’d use if I was too cold. When I entered the gates I had no idea what I was in for. I was immediately funneled into the seating section, feeling more like cattle than a person. The seats were metal and freezing. I immediately started shivering and thought that if I went to the dance floor to move around and/or find one of those propane heating towers they have outdoors at small bars I’d be fine. So I went to the dance floor and was immediately escorted out being told by the rude staff that I didn’t have that access. I paid almost double for seats and here they were telling me I wasn’t allowed on the dance floor at a DANCE MUSIC EVENT… Nowhere in St. Louis will you ever see the venue block seat holders from the dance floor area… Then extremely pissed off I started looking for some place to warm up and found this was another blatant oversight. They didn’t even consider attempting to accommodate people who were cold, in October. So I decided I’d go back to my car and get the secondary hoody. Again I was told there were rules stopping me from getting warmer and would not be allowed back in if I got my hoody from the car. They asked why I wanted to leave and I told them I was freezing, which the police officer next to me though was hilarious. With no other option I left. Didn’t even see Rufu du sol perform in spite of the fact I bought the tickets in April and had been very excited to see them all summer. WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. $110 down the drain. I will never go to that venue again… I understand it was my responsibility to dress appropriately but I only realized these details once I was already in the venue and offered not one solution to my problem. Don’t expect to feel like a customer at St. Louis Music Park because they make it quite clear you’re a cash cow.
Absolutely amazing music, terrible crowd management
Rufus was truly amazing to see live and at such a cool venue as well. The light show was incredible and of course, their music got the entire crowd going. However, the event staff was terribly unprepared for how many people were there and walking around trying to find their seats. We got pointed in a different direction maybe 5 times often ending up talking to the same person again - just going in circles. The signage was non-existent and in the dark it was impossible to see where we should be seated. Additionally, the staff was rude and unhelpful, except for one person, which is disappointing for such a large venue that I expected more from. Luckily, we finally found a place to sit (still not sure if it was the correct place), and we were able to enjoy the concert, but I am annoyed that we missed part of the concert as the ushers told us the wrong information over the course of 30-40 minutes.
